If You See Her

Picture
If You See Her

If you see her
Ask her if she has found comfort in the clouds.
Ask her if she has a breathtaking view of the oceans.
And if she dips her toes in, is the water is always the perfect temperature?

If you see her
Tell her I hope she has found an eternity of peace and love.
That I hope she no longer suffers
and is surrounded by light.

If you see her
Tell her when I gaze up at the stars and notice one twinkling,
It's as though she is winking at me through the darkness of the night.

If you see her
Tell her whenever I feel an unexplainable soft cool breeze in a warm room,
       I think of her instantly,
And imagine she's blowing on me just to tell me she's near.

Like right now, on my left arm near my elbow.

       Tell her every breeze and its dance among the trees and the shower of its leaves;
Every flower swaying and even the church praying, all remind me of her.

If you see her
Tell her with every ray of the sun, I picture her parting the clouds to beam her shine
Down unto me, showing that she is always watching over me, even though I can't see her.

If you see her
Tell her I want to share all my moments with her.
Every sadness, every happiness, the pain and the stress.
On the worst of days, and especially on the best.

Tell her I want to pick up the phone and call her still. To hear her voice.
To have her guidance. Through all of this.
Because life isn't the same without her.

If you see her
Tell her lighthouses near the ocean and the waves of the sea,
Always bring her back to me.

Rowboats and long distant shores, hold her deep in my heart forever more.
Tell her with every blue jay squawking and chickadee chatter,
Nothing else but her seems to matter.

If you see her
Tell her she was the rock on which I stood tall.
With arms out, ready should I tumble and fall.

Tell her she was my anchor. So that I didn't drift off to sea.
But if I did now, I know she'd still be there to catch me.

If you see her
Tell her every day I find another reminder of her
In my reflection, in my face, but mostly my eyes.

If you see her
Tell her every time I see a daughter with her mother, I miss mine even more then before.
I can't prevent the grip of sadness I still sometimes feel, pangs of jealousy all too real.

If you see her
Tell her that I need her still. For Now. For Always. For all I will ever become.

Tell her that I love her more than forever ever was.

If you see her,
Tell her she was taken from me too soon.
And even though some days I don't know if I can do this without her,
That I am grateful for the stars.
